Covid-19 Testing

If you are enrolled in one of the USG healthcare plans through Anthem BCBSGA or Kaiser Permanente (including employees enrolled in the Consumer Choice HSA):

  • In-network
    Out-of-pocket costs such as deductibles, co-payments, and co-insurance will be waived ($0.00).
  • Out-of-network
    In instances where no in-network providers are available, the USG health plan will also waive out-of-pocket costs associated with the screening and diagnosis of Covid-19, through September 30, 2020. If you are tested at an out of network provider, you may have to pay for the Covid-19 test upfront, but you can file a claim for reimbursement.

For nonemergency healthcare concerns, telehealth can be a good option. While Covid-19 cannot be confirmed through virtual or remote care, provider teams can screen symptoms, assign risk, answer questions, and recommend the next steps. 

All telehealth visits, including those unrelated to COVID-19, will be covered at 100% with no out-of-pocket costs for all USG healthcare plans through September 30, 2020. Update October 2020: USG is continuing to cover all telehealth visits, including those unrelated to COVID-19, at 100% with no out of pocket costs for all USG healthcare plans. We will provide an update should anything change.

Pharmacy/Prescription Medications

CVS pharmacies are continuing to waive charges for home delivery of all prescription medications, through August 31, 2020. If you do not use a CVS pharmacy, please check with your local pharmacy for information about waived home delivery charges.

If you take a maintenance medication, we encourage you to use the 90-day supply option. This will reduce the number of trips to the pharmacy and will lower your out-of-pocket cost. As part of the prescription drug program, you also have the option of home delivery from CVS Caremark Mail Service pharmacy with no delivery cost

To ensure Kaiser Permanente members have continuous access to maintenance medications, Kaiser continues to closely monitor their prescription limits and requirements. Similar to CVS, Kaiser members can utilize Kaiser Permanente’s prescription mail order service to have prescriptions shipped home with zero shipping charges.

Covid-19 Testing

If you believe that you are experiencing symptoms of Covid-19 or have been exposed to the novel coronavirus, please contact your primary care doctor, an urgent care clinic, or your local federally qualified healthcare center. Please do not show up unannounced at an emergency room or health care facility.


For employees not enrolled in the USG Healthcare plan, a telehealth option is available through LiveHealth On-line at $59 per visit.

Student Healthcare

Covid-19 Testing

Currently enrolled students and postdocs on the Student Health Insurance Plan (SHIP) can get tested for free at Stamps Health Services. Please see Covid-19 Testing at Stamps for more information.

Health Services

Stamps Health Services is here for you. The health and wellness of the Georgia Tech community remains our first priority. 

In-person and virtual appointments are available to students.

We will provide a separate treatment and waiting space for patients having symptoms associated with Covid-19 and use telemedicine when appropriate. Appointment schedules will be adjusted to limit the number of people in waiting areas, and all front-facing service areas will have plexiglass installed to promote social distancing.

Student Mental Health and Well-Being

Students in Crisis

Students experiencing a crisis that requires immediate attention may speak with a counselor at any time 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Get help now.

CARE Center

All staff will be able to continue to serve students in their current physical space, both in person and virtually.

All staff and clients will wear masks, and in-person appointments will be staggered to reduce the number of students present in the center at one time. Plexiglass will be installed around the reception desk.

Counseling Center 

Clients will be offered the option of face-to-face counseling appointments that ensure social distancing, or they will be offered a telehealth appointment. Those who choose a face-to-face appointment will be required to wear masks and asked to maintain a 6-foot distance from others.

All in-person appointments will be staggered to reduce the number of students present in the center at one time. We will manage the number of students in the waiting room to ensure social distancing. Counseling Center workshops and outreach presentations will be hosted in sufficiently large spaces or virtually, depending on the specific needs of the requesting campus partner.

Emotional Support

Georgia Covid-19 Emotional Support Hotline
Provides 24/7, free, and confidential assistance to callers needing emotional support or resource information. The support line is staffed by volunteers, including mental health professionals and crisis counselors.

The support line is a partnership between the Georgia Department of Behavioral Health & Developmental Disabilities, Beacon Health Options, and Behavioral Health Link.

Kepro Employee Assistance Plan (EAP)
Tips for coping with feelings or emotions you may be experiencing related to the Covid-19 outbreak are available through the EAP. Employees and their families can request confidential, no-cost services at 844.243.4440. 

Working Parent Resources

The Office of Human Resources website, Working Through Covid-19 While Caring for Children, provides a collection of resources to provide assistance in various areas of life.

Financial/Market Volatility Concerns

USG has partnered with CAPTRUST to provide Retirement and Financial Advisory Services to USG employees. CAPTRUST offers a no-cost advice line for all benefited employees, and representatives are available to answer employees’ questions and concerns about the market.
